I call it the Job saving act.

Is it a natural process to get serious at your work?
I mean serious, responsible , you fell you need to do it cause its important to you and it matters to you; rather than a feeling of doing it cause you don't want to be questioned or because you don't want to be troubled by it again or even because you just want to get done with it.
Do people get passionate about work genuinely, with no strings attached? No matter how much they get paid. No matter what it does to them. Simply plain passion as a liking, as a way of you doing things and believing in it.
I am kinda specific here about the monotonous genre of work. Typically software, but also any other similar field of work.
There have been occasions when i just wanted to get up and walk out of meetings, i just did not want to respond cause i couldn't relate. I know that's ok with me cause i am not passionate enough, but i kinda feel that with lot of people around who slog their ass out, they work like crazy but is it their passion?
Are we saving jobs because its a way of survival and we need to take home bread and better or because it gets imbibed in us after a point of time that it doesn't matter what you do , you just do things!
I am saving my job right now. I want to change before it gets worse. Before it stops mattering to me anymore, before i get embedded into it and frozen to things around.
I hope it happens , a good break to make a difference is all i want.

I really don't think its a job saving act. I think what prompts people to really slot it out, is the challenges the people see in a particular project or problem. I think we all have moments when we really don't want to work, not just because we are exhausted but sometimes u don't find enough challenge in the work assigned to you. A bad pay can drive you out of your compay, A good one can just keep you happy it can't motivate you to work. If you don't find work challenging enough or interesting enough you might just find ways to get around your ever pestering boss.

So, I guess all you need is challenging project, or you can just yell at your boss and get the challenge for finding a new job [:D]

yup, what u had commented is very true...its just we are attending to the need of the hour...(as u said job saving act)
why getting into the same mundane lifeless works, just bcos of the reason that u are offered a better pay..
afterall its your life, ought to decide whether we are gonna live a machine life or something that we adored or we are (were) so passionate about..though the job that is passionate might not offer u better pay,but it do gives a job satisfaction, fullness ,content, and a purpose of it...
so its all in the game, insense, its up to you to, either to comprimise on the pay/or in the passion u have towards your work...
cheers!!!

Yaa, actually you can recieve email when someone posts comment to your blogs.

I have subscribed for that. For cheking the updates on other people's blog you can subscribe to these RSS feeds. But i really don't think there is settign which allows you see comments added to other ppl blogs.

Anyways, i think its not really a sane idea to see what comments are posted on someone else's blog [:D]

Very well thought post. Not always you stick on to something because you just love to do that. Well ya, most of the times, you do.. May be the other rewards are implict but when you start doing it for the heck of it then you are the looser! Thats my take on it.
